Week One

1. Tuesday 1 April 2008:
2. Thursday 3 April 2008: Read a short handout on issues, topics, questions, and problem (forthcoming via email). Optional but recommended: Booth, et al, Chapters 1-4. (On reserve in the library.) We will discuss the ideas of these first four chapters. Bring questions and comments about this material for discussion. Also, be prepared to discuss further some of your possible research interests.
3. Friday 4 April 2008: Read and think about Sections 1.1 and 1.3 from Barnes and Fulford. Which sorts of models have you encountered previously? Are there any types of models that the authors omit?

• Think about possible topics for projects. Do some initial reading, investigating, and discussing.

Week Two

3. Friday 11 April 2008:
